First take the motor out of the car.  Then, remove the brush springs (careful, they pop off) and the brushes and set them aside.  Use a comm stick or eraser to clean the comm and brushes.

Next, spray the motor through the brush slot with motor spray made for electric motors. Spray the motor and spin the armature until the spray comes out clear the other end, do this over a trash can or outside in a good plane (don't pollute the ground from your cleaning).  Next put everything back together, if the brushes show wear then replace them with the manufacture suggested brushes.

That's it.  You don't need to take the armature out or nothing like that.  Unless you want a real good clean.  You should also oil the bearings on your motor after you do all this clean as well

Timing
You can also adjust the timing now but if you have a reverse ESC leave it alone (probably at 0 degrees).  If you have a forward only ESC then you can add 15 degrees or so timing to the endbell for extra speed but reduced run time.
