You got to love tools. I mean imagine life without them.  Try to nail a nail without a hammer, not easy huh?  Well it's the same with r/c car tools.  You need them.  There could be more tools then what are here but these are the ones I use and like:

screwdrivers - I would get craftsman screwdrivers.  They have a lifetime warranty and good sizes.  Nice price too.  I got like 15 screwdrivers for $20.
Pliers - Good for cutting stuff.  And can twist wires and work great on wire ties
Needle nose pliers - Can get in the tight spaces and cut stuff, and turns stuff.  Good for a lot of things.
Allen wrenchs/drivers - For all those allen head screws there are!
Scissors - Cutting tape and other stuff
Wrench's - to turn those nuts and bolts for custom projects and for wheels
Socket set - Great for wheel nuts and tons of other things.
Soldiering iron - You need this a lot in electric stuff, not so much in nitro
Hammer - to hit your r/c when you get mad at it (don't do that, im only joking)
Pencil - never know when you might get a new idea for a r/c project
Ruler - Compare your car with others r/c's

That's about it.  I'm sure I forgot some,  if you have any to add please email me here.  Tools are sometimes the things that keep you from getting the job done in 30seconds rather then 3 minutes.  That time is very important when you have a race to make it to or if you have a bus to catch.  It also keeps you from getting frustrated and wished you had the right tool.  Well if you got the money go get the right tool.  Or you can be like some of us and work with what we got.  Like me,  trying to cut metal with a dermal tool or hack saw when I wish I had CNC machines.

These are just some of the tools I use.

A dremel tool is always useful for somethings. Its got tons of uses.
