****At first glance this thing was HUGE to me. I never had a 1/8 scale truck or buggy. It is well built and already put together, which is a huge plus for people like me that get frustrated when building a rc. The Ultra MBX has lots of extras and even has anodized blue parts! The rims are 3.2 in tall which is a lot to me. The body comes also pre-painted in the RTR version. Though it isn't cut yet. You will need to do that.
So now we move into the break in experience. It wasn't fun but break in never is. I couldn't get the P4 engine to idle right or run at all. So I found that after 4 tanks of gas that the gas I was using "Trinity" wasn't made for break in so I decided to move to a higher content of oil for fuel. After this it helped and break in was done with!
After about the 6th tank I knew break in was done and I started to hit the gas more. The temps where coming down thanks to the new gas I got and everything was running well. This thing is fast! It is stable too until you turn real hard at high speeds. But your not suppose to do that anyway with any rc car. It is very fast in the grass thanks to its 4wd and its diff's.
*10/8/01 - This thing rocks! I'm finally learning how to keep that engine running. Although my spark plugs keep getting messed up for some reason and it is running a little hot. But its running now so I'm happy. I was doing some major jumping the other day (averaging 25ft+ jumps) and it did great. It didn't break or stop. It did however over heat the engine at one point and it wouldn't move hardly at all. After I let it cool down it worked again. It was weird, I never seen anything like it.
I also had the front diff get messed up before the jumping, so I'm going to need a new diff at one point. I got it to work for now by putting a shim inside to make the gears closer together. They looked a little stripped to me. I would definitely suggest this buggy for its price. Also it can be transformed into a MP, MB, Blazer SST, or GTP. This is one buggy that is built tough!
*11/25/01 - After running it awhile I stripped the diff gears in the front and rear diff. I emailed Ofna and they sent me 3 sets of diff gears! I was very happy with there tech support! I was thinking about selling it for awhile but I don't know why. I got it to run good again and I just can't sell it, its too fast and awesome! I've gone threw tons of glow plugs though in the P4 engine. Not sure why, I think its just my tuning skills. I'm currently trying different glow plugs.
MORE IS COMING SOON! THIS IS A NEVER ENDING REVIEW!
