This subject can be very confusing.  Most monster truckers love ground clearance.  But is it always good?  Of course not, because more ground clearance may mean a higher center of gravity.

What does that mean?
Center of gravity is the point on your truck or car that has the most weight.  Like on an electric car it would be the battery, where it is placed.  So you want the lowest center of gravity.  The battery as close to the ground as possible.  This keeps your car or truck from flipping.  Or swaying like a T-maxx, E-maxx.

Stadium trucks are designed to have a very low center of gravity and ground clearance doesn't matter as much as say a monster truck.

The important thing with Monster trucks is to get the most ground clearance while still making it very stable and be able to absorb jumps and stuff just as easy.  A Traxxas stampede has TONS of ground clearance but the center of gravity is very high.

What does ground clearance mean?
Well how much space is between the lowest part of your truck from the ground.  Some say its the highest point.  Like on a Traxxas stampede the highest point has a lot of ground clearance but where the wheels are that part is closer to the ground so it can get stuck there.  So you want the most space from the ground as possible so you don't get stuck. You obviously want all 4 tires on the ground at one time.  Don't want it to get stuck on something like a rock so you cant move at all.

Using suspension travel you can also accomplish this.  Meaning how many inches you can move up one tire with all the tires touching.  Like put a brick under one tire and see if all 4 tires touch without your help.  That is suspension travel.  Its a very soft suspension setup usually where you can get all 4 tires on the ground even in the craziest situation's.  But with this soft setup its not as good for jumps because it can bottom out easier.  So you need to figure out what you want to do with your truck or car before you decide on your suspension setup.  Or what car you want to buy.
